Reviewer: AG Rating: 5/5 The Good: Great picture and sound. Very easy to use with the onscreen menu's etc - also the remote control is very simple. Had this for about a year and no problems at all. The picture is much better then my mates samsung plasma - If you can't tell the difference between a digital and HD channel on this tv you should have your eyes checked The Bad: Only 1 HDMI input. In this day and age we need at least 3 - although i have got a hub off ebay for about 50 bucks and this solves the problem. Overall: A great TV for the price. I have a few friends with the same model and all agree. Thumbs up |

Reviewer: Jim Rating: 5/5 The Good: Had it just over 12 months & no problems, very happy with all aspects of this TV The Bad: Nothing comes to mind Overall: Great set, go buy one! |
Reviewer: Parkesy Rating: 1/5 The Good: Great picture and sound when working The Bad: Had remote replaced 3 times in 12 months
Tv is 2 years old picture card popped $700 to repair Overall: Would not buy another LG. Might as well pay 1200 for cheap import if you only will get 2 years out of it. |
Reviewer: Gary Hagan Rating: 1/5 The Good: Good to look at. The Bad: Everything that everybody else has said especially about the sound delay and that you have to change the channel and back again to get the sound when you first turn on the plasma. Overall: bad. I use to think that LG were good but not anymore. sounds as though LG have not just lost me next time as a customer but alot of people. WAKE UP LG AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT ALL THE CRAP.!!!!! |

Reviewer: Ken Rating: 3/5 The Good: Hi bought the unit just over 12 months ago r from Harvey Norman Dec 2006 cost with extended warranty $2600 so far no problems picture and sound quality good even though i am on Foxtel never knew how bad Foxtel was until i bought a bigger TV The Bad: My mate bought the same TV the day after me and 1 week later is lost all picture Harvey Norman replaced the TV with new unit same day. Overall: I just bought the LG 42PCDG 2008 upgraded model from Bing Lee $1479.00 $1779 with extended warranty
so far no problems and and how the price has dropped |
Reviewer: Sarvi Rating: 2/5 The Good: Works well so far without problems (i've had it for 3 weeks). The Bad: Found out after buying that screen resolution is only 1024x768, insufficient to display a HD picture. Though it has a HD tuner it cannot display HD !
The salesperson didn't tell me this in the shop. In fact he led me to believe the HD picture was great. Overall: Good enough for watching the footy finals with your friends. |
Reviewer: see other product before purchasing Rating: 1/5 The Good: there noting goog to write about this lg product the picture is very very bad it can even cause eye problem The Bad: very bad product, i have chenge lg it two time not even up to 6month,this is unbelieveable.say no to lg tvs. Overall: i think for now i will say no to lg tvs, until they have inproved. |

Reviewer: Upset newish owner Rating: 1/5 The Good: When it wants to work properly it is good. Works fine with DVD only. The Bad: Sounds delay of a second or two & cutting out for up to 5 seconds when it feels like it. Sound slow to reproduce on high def programmes. High Def TV dosnt look any different to straight digital. Overall: For a product that cost me over $3000 hard earned dollars. A few months I was a, once proud owner. I am now extremely disappointed with this product. It's not even 1 year old and we have problems. When asked the technicians if they had heard of anyone else having the same problem this I was told no never. It was denyed totally. Obviously incorrect if you read the above comments. Which annoys me. Everyone understands that sometimes there are problems. I accept that. A fast resolve would counteract any negativity. I am now awaiting the resultion to my problem. I will keep it posted here for you all to follow. It will be interesting. If LG have any smarts they will rectify this problem quickly to maintain there credibility in this competitive market place. |

Reviewer: Ian A Rating: 5/5 The Good: just brought this yesterday .so so easy to set up ,picture quality is awesome. The Bad: nothing Overall: great value for money |
Reviewer: wes Rating: 5/5 The Good: great picture The Bad: nothing Overall: not quite as good as a 1080p but great tv so far |
Reviewer: Danny Rating: 0/5 The Good: nun The Bad: every thing Overall: Do you know of ANYONE with an LG plasma that is at least 12 months old that has NOT had a issue? I don't
And also to anyone thinking of purchasing any form of LG plasma, FORGET IT!!
The insurance companys that lg use have taken out a lawsuit against them as they have
predicted a 95-100% failure rate within four years.
Independently confirmed that indeed litigation has been brought against LG due to the high failure rate.
More to the point the screens are not reaching anywhere near the manufacturers advertised life span before failure.
I am sure that it will push the manufacturer (LG) to produce products that have some form of r&d/quality
rather than a great price (which soon fades when you are looking at a blank screen).
LG was Goldstar The lowest of manfactures.
Its Cheep because it is made Cheep. |

Reviewer: Rob Rating: 1/5 The Good: Works well and I enjoy the picture, the set looks good too. The Bad: The slight delay between picture and sound (noticable when somebody is talking). Takes ages to change channel, especially for the sound. Now I am having problems with the signal strength going from good to bad (and therefore pixilating the screen)then back to good again all in about 2 seconds time frame. Overall: What do you do. LG won't help they won't care, either will the retailer either will the aerial guy. Its always somebody else's fault. Wheather you buy a TV or anything else (like a car / house / sandwich maker!!) it has a capital cost as well as a running cost and life span. Its a shame such a glossy product that many people take pride in having one in their house can be the cause of so much angst and frustration. Why sell what won't last?? Money. |
Reviewer: Peter S Rating: 4/5 The Good: Fantastic picture. Great overall style and appearance. Excellent value for money The Bad: No Headphone socket. Have to cycle through all the inputs before getting to the one connected to your Foxtel/HDD Recorder etc. Sound is good quality but lacking a little in bass. Overall: Very pleased with the purchase. Can recommend to others. |
Reviewer: mikkacyprus Rating: 1/5 The Good: Its great when its on! The Bad: My one is now almost 12mnths old and we are having to buy a new on/off mains circuit board!! Oh only another 250.00 to pay! Overall: Don't bother - go elsewhere and buy a better telly! |
Reviewer: Matt Rating: 5/5 The Good: Displays a great picture, output of sound awesome.
Big thumbs up from me!!! The Bad: Nothing Overall: Great plasma, will definetly look at buying LG for my next purchase of TV. |
Reviewer: Almiester Rating: 1/5 The Good: Was a good TV for a while The Bad: LG Plasma TV's seem to have issues when 18 months to 2 years old. Developed sparkles (red and white dots) after 18 months old followed by a pop and no more display just sound. Technicians say it need 3 new printed circuit boards, well it only has three. Overall: Wouldn't buy another LG product |
Reviewer: John Rating: 0/5 The Good: The carton it came in The Bad: Purchased LG 42" 2.5 years ago and "card" has gone. Research indicates not worth fixing (more than $500 and no guarantee another card won't go, burn problem, etc Easy way to blow $3,400! Overall: Was advised by repairer that LCD more reliable but who do you believe? |
Reviewer: Neil Rating: 4/5 The Good: Bought it home hooked it up and away it went The Bad: None at this stage Overall: Very happy at this stage |
Reviewer: J B M Rating: 2/5 The Good: Watching "On Air HD Channels" from Local TV stations here in Los Angeles are Great. It's free and the signal comes in clear once you point your outdoor antenna at the right direction. Watching dvd movies are pretty good at 720p, better than 480i on my old non hdTV.... The Bad: After 1 month of having my LG Plasma, sometimes the screen would turn black or even flicker on and off when I am watching regular tv shows and even on HD TV now as well. I am not sure if the problem could be if the tv has been on too long and when it gets hot, it would cause those problems. Or my set up box, But I hope goes away. It is wall mounted so it is sturdy and things inside the tv won't gitter around. And also watching DVD through the HDMI connection, the sound from my receiver vs. the sound from the tv would echo. The TV would receive the sound faster than the receiver, using opitical cable. I fixed the problem by putting the khz on my dvd to 48 instead of 96 khz. That helped alittle bit since they both were running at the same sound speed but still had a very slight echo, probably 0.2 seconds of lag still. Overall: The first few weeks of watching on my plasma tv was great. But after awhile, little things that I said start to go wrong for no apparent reason. Overall I think when you want to get a plasma tv or even lcd, do some research before spending alot on a TV. Because down the road you don't regret getting the TV. |
Reviewer: David Rating: 5/5 The Good: We've had this 3 months. Have not noticed any sound difference with the picture. It is a stylish TV and a lot better looking than other Plasmas on the market. The Bad: Can't think of anything. Overall: Excellent. |
Reviewer: John Griffiths Rating: 0/5 The Good: Picture quality reasonable. Appearance of set looks good. HDMI connection. The Bad: Freeze up on Channel 9 fixed after software upgrade. Sound does not come on when set switched on. Requires Channel change to get sound going. After that sound delayed up to 10 seconds when channel changed. Set loses Ch 7 sd and 7 HD settings at regular intervals, requiring favourites to be reset. Sound cuts out for several seconds when light switch or power point turned on. Tens of thousand of LG tv's require software upgrade. This means that for next two months at least you'll have problems getting any repair done by authorised LG service centre because of the backlog. When you call LG Australia customer serive phone number be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes to be connected to an operator. When you get through they aren,t interested in your problems. They tell you to contact your authorised repairer. If you ask to talk to the LG Customer Service Managerthey won't put you through. The best solution. Don't buy an LG digital tv as their sets are knowingly released with defects and you won't be able to get them fixed ( if they are fixable). And obviously LG doesn't stand by tyhe quality of it's products. If you must buy LG, don't buy this model or any plasma/lcd from LG with an integrated HD tuner. Overall: Buy a reliable quality Japanese brand such as Sony, Panasonic, Fujitsu or Toshiba. I'd never buy another LG product again. |
Reviewer: DEB LANG Rating: 5/5 The Good: Bought it home popped it on and away it went. Awesome picture terrific sound. Can't fault it at all. I bough the correct leads for it as that makes a BIG difference to the cheaper leads. The Bad: Nothing Overall: I'd recommend it to anyone and yu dont have to buy the set top box. Good Value Terrific Picture. Good on you LG |

Reviewer: Amit Shilotri Rating: 5/5 The Good: I would recommend this product, very good.. quality image for the money spent. value for money. just had to connect it and the instructions are awesome. No dramas even after trying to move the channels quickly, the best part is the TV responds to you and does things which you want it to do !!! Very good surround sound quality, though if u want to spend some extra money and get an amp and speakers go for it!! Resolution and Contrast ratio is very good, also the refresh rate is quite impressive. has got an amazing option for maximizing the life of the screen, pixcells move the screen picture in clockwise, hence the workload of the screen is shared and not always certain pixcells are working.. that way the screen life is extended. The Bad: the only flaw that i was able to find about this TV set is, after spending couple of thousand dollars you will be better of to spend some more and get a good table for this baby, do not put it on some table which you have, this set is quite heavy. also when taking the extended warranty, make sure u read the terms and conditions of the insurer. some of them doesnt makes sense. though its not the tv's fault. Overall: i think overall this product is very well made. ultimate value for your money, very natural colours and pictures, the tv case is also very good, jet black. best part is the screen responds to the situations and give ultimate quality picture, specially when playing games !!! so guys go for this product :) cheers !!! |
Reviewer: pete Rating: 1/5 The Good: Perfect sound, great HD picture The Bad: Only had this 50 inch Plasma for just 2 years and now its going black, and fading picture. LG have told told me they will repair it at no cost to me. Just the inconvenance of no TV while being repaired. Overall: Great for a while but from what I read after 2 years look out you may start to have problems, I can't recommend you to buy a Plasma at all. |
Reviewer: Judi Rating: 1/5 The Good: WHEN IT WORKS, GREAT PICTURE The Bad: I BOUGHT THIS LG RUBBISH IN FEBRUARY 2007 PLUS A LG DVD AND LG HOME THEATRE. THE HOME THEATRE HAS LASTED UNTIL IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, JUST, THE DVD HAS HAD NUMEROUS CALL OUTS. THE CRAPPY TV, HAS FROZEN CONTINUALLY. I HAVE JUST PHONED LG ONLY TO BE TOLD HEY ITS OUT OF WARRANTY, NOT OUR WORRY.
Overall: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANY LG PRODUCT. |
Reviewer: randall wilson Rating: 0/5 The Good: I paid $5,300 Aud for this LG50"PX5D-AB and that was through a mate that works at LG,,IT LOOKED GREAT The Bad: 3YRS LATER ,2 repair jobs at $900 each,to replace the X an Y boards and its done it AGAIN ! LG PLASMAS ARE A joke,THERE SHOULD BE peoples Vrs. LG law suit going on Overall: isay to everyone out there DO NOT buy anything from LG |
Reviewer: Mike Hunt Rating: 4/5 The Good: Great for watching porn The Bad: cum shots are hard to clean fron the screen Overall: i like it |
Reviewer: John T Rating: 1/5 The Good: Nice looking set The Bad: Worthless. Broke down within 4 months. Don't buy LG Overall: Worthless |
Reviewer: Ed Rating: 1/5 The Good: It was the cheapest and best value at the time 5 years ago and the picture quality was flawless The Bad: Do not expect the TV to last past 5 years. It will fail electronically. I was quite lucky to get 5 years of heavy use but most people only get about 2 t 3 years. The electrolytic capacitors are particularly poor quality and degrade fast with heat. Hot parts have been placed under these heat sensitive parts cooking them early. Dont waste your money conducting repairs to your LG set as it will be dead in another 2 years due to poor thermal design.
If you cant afford to throw away $4000 AU per 5 years do not buy an LG, buy Panasonic or buy a LCD which does not pump out so much waste heat. Overall: excellent picture
excellent price
but doesnt last long so this needs to be ballanced into the purchase decision. |
Reviewer: adelaide boy Rating: 0/5 The Good: big screen thats were it stops !!!! The Bad: continualy frezing on channel 9 after haveing 2 software upgrades noticed power bill jump up strait away Overall: don't waste your $$$$ im going to smash my screen say it was my lad and claim it in insurance they are crap do not buy people LG NEED TO GET THERE SHIT TOGETHER |
Reviewer: LK Rating: 0/5 The Good: While it lasts it's great The Bad: After a year and a half its useless. Problems start. Clicking on and off by itself. Sometimes every few seconds. LG service people are unreasonable and even the mananger was unwilling to help. Got quite agressive and told us to ring Fair Trade!! Overall: Don't buy LG!! |
Reviewer: Tommy Clarke Rating: 1/5 The Good: Looks Good The Bad: Turns off by itself. And one of the power boards needs replacing at the back of the unit, but guess what ? My Plazma is Five years old and they do not make the particular Power Board that I need any more. I payed Five grand for it then and was told by the service people that I should not complain because I had my moneys worth ! They soon changed when I went there and pulled the guy who spoke to me by his scrawny neck across the counter, I now have a new one given to me by LG, Its still in the Box, I wont be useing it. Overall: Dont waist your money, It has a lot of faults and the service people are rude down the phone to you.....but not face to face....Funny that. |
Reviewer: Greeny Rating: 0/5 The Good: Nothing The Bad: Had boards replaced as soon as it was out of warranty. Pixels break up and remote receiver is now broke. Overall: LG = Load'a Garbage. Will NEVER buy anything LG again. |
Reviewer: tash Rating: 1/5 The Good: great when works The Bad: black stripe down left hand side of screen two inches wide Overall: wont buy lg again |
Reviewer: TSCALES Rating: 0/5 The Good: Nice appearance on the outside The Bad: The worst TV set I have every purchased. After 2years it went completely out. I had sound without picutre and just fuzzy color lines. Overall: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON LG PRODUCTS THAT ONLY LAST A SHORT WHILE. YOU ARE BETTER OFF SPENDING MORE MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT WILL LAST LONG. FOR HEAVENS SAKE MY ANALOG TV IS TWENTY YEARS OLD AND STILL WORKS FINE. |
Reviewer: micheal jackson Rating: 3/5 The Good: felt good rubbing up against it The Bad: didnt like the taste Overall: overall id reconemd this telly, especially for luring children into ur cave |
